That website is a nice computer wargame review site. The article is very good. The review of FOG2 is almost exactly what I would say in a review about fights going to the wire and he misses the map campaigns of Sengoku Jidai, although I like the campaigns in Fog2 a lot too. He should have added that Fog2 has a huge variety of units and army lists so it is very good for replayability, MP games and campaigns.

I haven't heard of the Cold Water game but it sounds good too.

Cold water is very good. It’s not a simulation but that’s the beauty of it. Easy to play, hard to master.

Cold Water is not a Slitherine game is it? Where do you buy it from?

i just bought it 2 days ago after reading the posted article. i didn't buy at first cause i play a lot of Command:Modern Air/Naval Operations and just
didn't want to spend the money on a similar title.

i am working my way through the tutorials. easy to pick up so far.

Sounds like the game has a steep learning curve and then gets fun. I think that Command game is like on an operational level and the sub is on tactical level so should be totally different.

Cold Waters is way simpler then CMANO but the visuals, music, sfx, and overall feel of it is really nice. Killerfish (the developer) recently released it on GoG. So if you don't prefer steam or just want to save a couple bucks see: https://www.gog.com/game/cold_waters

I don't know how long they will do the 20% off discount for. Well worth your consideration if you like sneaking about in Cold War subs.

Anyways, glad to hear Tim Stone of RPS's Flare Path liked FoG2 as well.

actually solo sub is my favorite way to play Command and yes it has a steep learning curve. least for me it did/does/will/did...whatever.

Turned into a Cold Waters thread. Completely different game form Command. Cold Waters is an action game (light simulation). Not a operstional / tactical war game.
