There will be a Field of Glory tournament at the upcoming MMGA ReCon,
22 Nov 2008, (note date change) at the Coon Rapids VFW. I need to know who is interested
and what armies they would like to field. I have not decided whether to
hold an open comp, or a themed tourney. If open, armies from any
published supplement would be welcome. A themed comp would probably be
limited to Late Middle Ages armies between 1300 and 1500 AD ("Storm of
Arrows" and "Eternal Empire" supplements, plus any crossover
from "Swords and Scimitars") The decision will be based on who commits
and states their preference. A final decision will be made when I get
enough input.
The reason I suggest a Late Middle Ages theme is because so far I know
of several people who have armies from that period. I have several and
could loan an army or two to interested players who need an army.

I would like to know how many people are planning to take part and what
armies they are considering for it? As mentioned earlier I haven't made
up my mind whether to host an "open" competition, allowing any army
from the published supplements, or restricting it to a particular era -
European Late Medieval, for example. I have several late medieval
armies - Germans, Low Countries, Teutonics, Danes, but also have
Thracians, and if I worked real hard, could have a Classical Indian
army ready by then. So speak up. I will put out a formal announcement,
with tourney format and regulations as soon as I get enough feedback.

Field of Glory - Fall Muster Tournament
MMGA Recon, 22 November 2008

Location: The Coon Rapids VFW at 1919 Coon Rapids Boulevard in Coon Rapids, MN

Time: Saturday, 22 November 2008. 10AM to whenever we get kicked out.

Format: This is an open, 3 round, 650 point, single list tournament using the Field of Glory miniatures rules and its published army list supplements and errata. Armies may be from any of the supplements published prior to the tournament.

Purpose: To create an opportunity for local and regional gamers to meet and compete in a friendly tournament against a variety of like minded opponents. The emphasis is on having a good time and meeting other gamers who enjoy historical miniatures games.

Materials Needed: Each player is responsible for providing a 4’ x 6’ game mat, terrain appropriate to the army which he or she is fielding, an army of painted, 15mm miniatures representing the army which he or she is fielding, and an army list specifying the nationality, time period, and composition of the army fielded. The maximum point total for an army is 650 points. The FoG rulebook and the supplement book appropriate for your army list are also required.

Schedule:
10am – 11am: Admission, tournament registration, 1st round assignments.
11am – 2pm: Fight round 1.
2pm – 3pm: Tally results of round 1, assign matches for round 2, have a snack (optional).
3pm -6pm: Fight round 2.
6pm -7pm: Tally results of round 2, assign matches for round 3, have a snack (optional).
7pm – 10pm: fight round 3.
10pm +: Tally final results, declare tournament winners, gloat, sulk as appropriate, clean up and go home. Dream of how next time you’ll do even better.

Tournament army lists should use the format used on pages 32-34 of the Field of Glory rulebook, and include the army name, date or time period of the army, and any allies or special campaign options.
For example: Late Medieval German, Imperial, 1450-1458.

A limited number of “loaner armies” are available for players who wish to compete but don’t have an army of their own yet. Selection is limited and available on a “first come first served” basis.
