Unable to Run program

After installing the program and its patch, I try to run it and get 3 error messages: The first tells me I have a problem with the internet connection, specifically I need to reconfigure a firewall, but my firewall shows that internet access is on for this application. the error message comes so quickly, I suspect it's trying to tell me something else. The next message says it failed to create device for rendering; cannot run without at least shader model 3.0. Finally, I get an Unhandled Exception ExpCode 0x80000003 ExpFlags:0 ExpAddress: 0x00502BCD Please report! Well that was helpful, report to whom? I deleted the program with its patch and re-installed them with the same results. What should I try next? Is this really an issue with security settings? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Oh, I get the same results whether I launch the program from my laptop or from Steam.

welcome to the forum and sorry for your issues, have you checked your Anti Virus and spyware logs? plus firewall and seen if any has interfered with the install or running of the game and or patch?

what AV do you use?

and can you upload a report for us to know your settings and hardware, thanks,

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

Thanks. I'm running McAfee AV and I have attached the latest Vscan Log plus the 4 DxDiag text files.

Have you tried renaming the My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2 folder and see if the game will start? It sounds very much like an issue with either your screen resolution (check OPTIONS.TXT in that folder), or with an AV preventing the game from running correctly, or from accessing the My Games documents.

Cheers

I've tried renaming the file, but with the same results. When I rename the file, the program automatically creates a duplicate folder with the FieldOfGlory2 default name.
I disabled the firewall and made sure that the software was allowed to connect to the internet.
I did check OPTION.txt. It defaults to 1024x768, my normal screen is 1920x1080. I tried both revising the OPTION.txt file to my higher resolution and revising my resolution down to match the OPTION.txt lower resolution default. Both with the same results.
The only difference from yesterday is, after the program ostensibly links to the internet, my screen goes dark for a second suggesting that the program is about to launch, but then I get the shader 3.0 error message. Note that all the other buttons on the introductory screen work normally, like Game Manual.
I also note in passing that the OPTION.txt file refers to "Shaders 1", not the "shader=3.0" of the error message, not they are necessarily related.

Please post the contents of the error.log file that you will find in the folder after you run the game. I will note that the diag says you have a (very) low-end Intel video card - is that what you would expect?

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~1.8GHz

Memory: 16384MB RAM

Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Driver Date/Size: 8/9/2015
Dedicated Memory: 128 MB

Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor
Monitor Model: unknown
Monitor Id: LGD02DA
Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(p) (60.012Hz)

System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: Inspiron 7737

Driver Name: HdAudio.sys Date and Size: 8/22/2013

Name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M
no drivers loaded and not used

you need to update the drivers on your laptop, plus install some for the card mentioned above, which atm aren't working, as there not assigned to the laptop screen, so i know there not loaded or used

Code: Select all

https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-components/how-set-default-graphics-card-3612668/
then make sure once loaded, it has been set to default, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

then the game will or should work fine, atm with no drivers and out of date ones, the game won't work

I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't noticed that or realized for how long my GeForce card was inactive because I play a lot of different games. My system had a hard crash a few moons ago and I had to rebuild all my files and forgot to reload and run the GeForce driver. Once the driver was updated and installed, the program launches without incident. Thanks for the assistance. - Robbo J
