Welsh Army

I made a post about a late medieval Irish army a while ago and it helped, so I'm making another post about my next project -- a Late medieval Welsh army.
I have some ideas about what I want to do, but I would like to get some ideas from other people that have used/played against the Welsh.
There is one fundamental question I have -- longbows as MF or LF?
any reply is appreciated.

I reckon LF longbows are brill - someone comes at you with a ROman armoured horde - you can shoot them to pieces and not get caught.
In fact - Welsh is my primary candidate for an anti roman horde army

I would think that in a Longbow based Welsh army both MF and LF longbows would be warranted.

It's nice to have faster and fleet LF with long bow to evade in front of the enemy, as well as MF with bow to sit in terrain (if possible) and shoot with more dice.

I would definitely get all 12 bases of light foot longbow and some of the better equiped longbow too.

Possibly but when I ran Welsh I didn't have 64 bases of medium foot spearmen and the ones I had were unable to roll 5 hits on 6 dice on demand

And whose fault is that?

Six out of six with the general

I was planning on having 16 stands on LF Javilenmen -- should I just abandon those for more LF LB?

I fought a well played Welsh army recently at a competition. My opponent was using the archers in BGs of 6 x MF to provide rear support for his blocks of 10 unprotected spearmen. With an IC in range he had no problems weathering the insane shooting from my bow armed LH.

You can only have 12 stands of LF longbow. The LF javelinmen are handy as well.

A good question, the advantage is that yuo get a BG of really good troops, the downside is that it ties one of your generals pretty much to the knights and most medieval armies have knights of their own so you aren't that much better. If you want to field a light medieval army then one BG of knights is probably a good plan, if you want to focus on spear then 4 bases of knighs cost much the same as 16 bases of spears.

I'm kind of leaning towards using the french ally after my Welsh first whipped up on a pergamene army in their debut. The knights routed a unit of cataphracts and superior cavalry.
the question is whether to use 4 or 6 stands of knights?

OK, here's what I'm thinking about using for my army:
1x IC
1x TC
1x ally TC
2x LF spearmen 6 stands each
1x LF LB 8 stands
1x Arm Cav 4 stands
1x Prot. Cav 4 stands
2x Prot LH 4 stands each
2x MF spear 10 stands each
1x MF spear 6 stands
1x MF well equiped LB 6 stands
1x French men at arms 6 stands
1x French xbow 4 stands
that totals to 796 points and 13 BG's I think
any input would be appreciated

1x Arm Cav 4 stands
2x Prot LH 4 stands each
2x MF spear 10 stands each
1x MF spear 6 stands
1x MF well equiped LB 8 stands
1x French men at arms 6 stands
1x French xbow 4 stands
what do you think?

Why have the LF spear, would you not be better adding two more offensive spear MF BG I would also change LF Bow to MF Bow. But hay its your army.

I thought the LF spear would be good LF and theyre cheaper than MF spear.
I thought about taking the other LF LB as MF, but they are unprotected and really, really vulnerable (a minus 2 poa vs just about anything)
