Black Screen On Steam

After installing Panzerkrieg on Steam I played once and then could never reload again. The main menu opens, I hit "Play Order of Battle" the screen goes into windowed mode with a black screen and then to full screen mode with a black screen and I can hear music. I have deleted Settings files as recommended and I have deleted all OOB files and reinstalled multiple times but I get the same result. It seems that this needs a configuration editor up front so you can try different settings. The way it is now I cannot do anything. Similar games Panzer Corp and Field of Glory II work fine. Files attached.
HELP Please!

sorry about the issues and post on Matrix etc, as it's me who's dealing all the same,

drivers are old, shouldn't make any to much difference, but upgrade and double check all the same

Code: Select all

here's the latest versions for your O/S and type.

hard drive space plenty free, so not an issue
Drive: C:
Free Space: 665.4 GB

from the logs, you have had a few steam hangs

Code: Select all

Event Name: AppHangB1
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: Steam.exe
and one game issue, Problem signature:
P1: FIELDOFGLORY2.EXE

so for me, try this as the developer will have to check the games logs, update both above,

go to steam, settings, web browser and delete both, then downloads, (still in steam) and clear download cache, which will log you out of steam, where once it reloads, you will need to add your user name and password back in, so have it somewhere handy etc

then before you use the game,

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QEUH-3335

Verify Integrity of Game Files

and see if that helps

Did all those, including deleting all OOB folders and reinstalling.

Will try newer drivers after lunch

well reports fine for me, so will have to pass it on to the developers and see if they can find anything in the logs to point to something on why it no longer works, sorry again for your issues

As a test can you please configure your desktop screen resolution that it matches the native one, I mean set it to 1920 x1080.

By the way when you use the file in the posted in the "Launch problems?" thread, did the game launched in a 1024x768 window? Or was it full screen?

Setting the resolution to 1920x1080 did the trick. I'm not sure when or where this might have changed since I have been playing this since Oob came out. I don't recall now whether using the provided options file brought this up in Windowed or not but I don't want to go back now to try it :)

Thank you so much for the help, that was a tough one.
