28mm advice needed

Hi Gents,
Ive succumb to temptation in the form of Perry's Agincourt range.............
but, I need some advice onthe following:
1. Tournaments. what size army and what size table?
3. Basing. Not all the figures fit onto the base sizes recommended. Ive went for 3 infantry instead of 4, and with the mounted stuff I am going for 50mm deep rather than 40mm to allow figs to rank up without hitting each other. Will this be allowed in tournament?
cheers

In the UK 25mm at present comes in three formats:
650 points on a 6 by 4 table
800 points on an 8 by 4
1000 point doubles on a 9 by 4
All use a 1" MU
If you want to put your figures on overdeep bases I don't see there being any problem with that at all. 28mm mounted are really deep compared to bases nowadays.

Rules allow it IIRC so IMO it would be a perverse tournament that didn't. All BHGS ones will allow it anyway

excellent!
thanks gents.
Though the >6x4 tables and 650tps are a no go for me, too many figures to paint, and I cant reach the middle of the table with my back!

All the lager formats still have ths same table depth, just a wider front. I do take your point about your back though.
You may want to hang on for the Wargames Factory 100YW range which will by virtue of being hard plastic be rather easier to carry than 28mm lead.

Back problems are usually more to do with the leaning over than the weight.
Solution - play an army that just sits behind defenses in your half of the table
OK, maybe not

By coincidence tonight I've started basing my 28mm Romans and find that 2 bases deep of HF as per rules depth won't work on 20mm deep bases (half suspected that) so I'll be doing the 2nd rank bases as 30mm deep so I can set the 2nd rank guys back a bit. Decided against all 30mm deep to make it easier to tell the legionarii and auxilia apart - C3rd army so they look quite similar
