Help with Early Germans

Hi folks,

I am new to FoG. I am looking for some help with an 800 point Ealry Greman list, based in 200BC. My opponent will be running Gaul with lots of cavalry and (i think) heavy foot warriors. What list should I select against him and how should I use it?

From the list I can see that both armies seem every similar. What advantages do the Germans have?

Thanks in advance

There are not a lot of differences between the Early Germans and Gauls. 200 BC sees the Gauls at about their most flexible in terms of list options and the Germans at their least flexible. The only area that 200BC Germans have any advantage over Gauls is in light foot and the option of a few light horse. I would therefore take the maximum of light foot and consider using the light horse rather than the cavalry. Perhaps a Tencteri army with Batavaian allies to give you medium foot

FWIW I agree with Hammy--that's a decent mix. Another distinction between the Gallic and Early German lists is that the only required troop type for the latter are Warriors. Going solely with a huge mass of HF and/or MF is probably an extremely bad idea but it would likely surprise your opponent
