I select custom battle, it takes me to the selection page- but the only module that it will let me select and is listed under modules is rise of rome......I went ahead and tried setting up a battle but no matter what I do, default force selection, select my own etc. when I hit create it takes me to a map but there are no forces on the map and it takes me through the 'we have lost screen' etc....

Well firstly there is only one custom battle module in the vanilla game, so you don't need to select one.

Secondly I cannot reproduce the problem you are having.

Have you modded anything at all in the game?

I started to do a mod or try but I gave up as I thought it would prelude with maps from the map file etc. and I just didn't have the time to create a map etc etc ...

Is that one custom module you referred to, called rise of rome? ....the screen banner when I select custom battles loads that as its banner...is there something I may have messed up via my own attempts, can I delete it? were would I find it if so?

I think your attempted Mod is interfering with the vanilla Skirmish module. There are a few things you can do:

1) When you go into the Custom Battles, there should be a button by the side of the module name banner, its called "Select Another Module", select that and you should get a window with all of the available Skirmish modules, select "Rise of Rome (Default)" that is the standard game skirmish module.

2) If that don't work, find your My Documents/My Games/FieldofGlory2/CAMPAIGNS folder. This is where all your mods and scenario folders are kept. Find your mod folder and cut and paste it to somewhere safe in your My Documents folder, unconnected with the game. Or, if you really don't need the mod anymore, just delete it.

3) Alternatively, if you really want to keep the mod. Find a text file called CAMPAIGN.TXT in the mod folder, if you have created the mod folder using the Editor it should be created automatically for you. If you do not have a CAMPAIGN.TXT file just create a new blank one. Then write NOSKIRMISH in the CAMPAIGN.TXT file, and save. That will stop the game trying to use it as a Skirmish module.

I hope that helps.

Paul

Of course, if you have modded your main build (which we strongly recommend against) you probably need to uninstall the game and reinstall it.

First- Thank you very much for the response and explanations Paul.

So, the rise of rome module SHOULD be the only one showing? The Banner above the pick your armys etc. should say 'Rise of Rome'...?

Dont know how to determine that......

When I get home I am going to follow Pauls advice and delete the mod, I didnt finish it and dont need it, IF that does't work, I have the disk now, I'll jut un and reinstall.

If you created your mod folder using the Editor New Campaign button, then it will be in /Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/Campaigns, and it won't have done anything to your main build.

If you directly altered any files in your main build then all sorts of horrors may have occurred.

Sensible plan.
