Hi,

can anyone clarify what is happening with Godendag next year? The BHGS says it is 20/21 Jan, the latest slingshot says 28/29 Jan, no details of the periods on RBS's site or firestorm.

Thanks

Jon

I’ve spoken to Colin, who tells me no-one got back to Mike Baldwin about being Umpire/checker etc, so as of now it’s not going to happen.

If someone wants to step up and do the checking/theme setting etc I’m sure it can be added, just let me know

I can set a theme and check lists for v3. Not sure if anybody would let me umpire though. I take it RBS has dropped out but the gaming centre in Cardiff is still good to go

I am prepared to umpire. I can also list check if needs be.

Let somebody else set themes.

Ok then theme:
Shock of Impact
V3 rules
Any (new) book 1 army.
Selected army must have at least 50% of its total bases with impact foot capability
900 points
Doubles
6x4 tables

Well that would be it if up to me

Though it only gives 14 ish possible armies (unless they can get a lot through allies) it would be exciting

Or it could be 750 points on 60x40 tables with three games on Saturday

OK. Is this a theme, or is “book 1 Armies” (given they are the only ones published and no one has played any v3 events using these lists ever) a more reasonable idea?

And Ruddock as umpire?

You wanted somebody to set a theme, so I made a suggestion, one that IMO would bring a balanced set of armies to the table.
Or you say book one any army and get mostly Han, Plus the odd weirdo. Also Belgarum is using any bk1 army a few weeks later

If you are looking to reboot FoG:AM and bring people back to playing it, having such a restricted set of available armies may not be the best way to do that. If it isn't an aim then it isn't an issue.

I doubt that the fact another comp is open Book 1 a month later will be an issue - in fact as it allows people to tweak their Godendag armies learning from their v3 cock-ups/experience it may well be a good thing.

What he said.

But, happy to go with whatever those planning to attend wish to do. Thoughts?

How about

Shock of Impact
V3 rules
Any (new) book 1 army.
Selected army must have at least 40% of its total bases as shock troops and/or elephants
900 points
Doubles
6x4 tables
?

I’ve not really got an opinion other than “this sounds a bit less restrictive than the other one”.

There’s also still just 3 people here saying they would go - any comments from the hive mind on possible attendees or the viability of this theme?

from warfare, the lack of info is the main issue/

Well Plymouth sent 2 teams last year, then there's oxford and Wessex, Reigate would be another 5 teams, if we can get to 8 then it'd be viable. theme wise, my proposal includes successors, greeks, and others unlike Phil's Roman-fest. Could go open if its an issue.

Ok. This theme with Ruddock checking and Umpiring.

Sounds viable?

I suspect me and Mr Bannister would go. Phil normally goes with Ian Stewart.

As you’ve offered to umpire, and I’ve sent that through to be published (hopefully) it would be great if you did!

Is it not possible to umpire remotely?
