Bw* vs. Bow

I'm probably missing something simple here but where does it say how many dice LH with bow (not bow*) get? The chart I'm reading says Cav with bow but under LH it says javelins, sling, firearm, or Bw* but Bow isn't listed. Also does Bw* use the same POA as Bow?

LH shooting with anything get 1 dice per 2 bases. They don't get Bw* as it would be just as effective as bow. Javelins, sling and firearm only ever get one dice per 2 bases no matter what is firing them.

What the chart says is "LH, LF or any javelins, sling, firearm or bow*"

So all LH or LF shoot with 1 dice per 2 bases in effective range and 1 per 3 outside effective range.
Other troops armed with javelin, sling, firearm or bow* also shoot with 1 dice per 2 bases in effective range and 1 per 3 outside effective range.

At present there are AFAICR no non lights with jabelin, sling or firearm in any of the published list books.

Good spot Phil.

There is talk of the possibility of some of the messo American armies getting MF sling or javelin which is in part why this rule is there. It gives list writers a few more options.

Yeah, they're bloody rubbish, worse than cav with Bw* because of the lack of range. Neither of these can skirmish and hope to cause CMT's which makes them a complete waste.

If they are armoured then ride up to the enemy within 2 MU, shoot with 2 dice and hope to get the 2 hits needed for a CT with that nice extra -1 for being shot at by firearms.

Then brace yourself for the charge......
