I went and got a shell extension to turn it back into a facsimile of Windows (every version from 95-XP), but good lord I can not express how useless, obtrusive and non-functional the Windows 8 start menu is. I Goddamn Hate how it covers the whole screen, especially since it only displays like ten icons at once.
I would just upgrade to Windows 10, but Microsoft won't let me because it doesn't like my internet connection.
I guess Windows 8 is basically for phones, but for some idiotic reason it was installed on millions of actual computers. If it wasn't for compatibility reasons I'd rather have Win95 than Windows 8.

it's like everything in life, once you get used to something, anything else is odd for some, and useless for others, but as it can be modded, just like windows 10 can, just find one you like and use that

I had the same problem. But I easily fixed it with $5.
I purchased Start8 and it fixed all my issues with Windows 8.
I like a lot Windows 8... better IMHO than 10.

I found the Windows 10 version of the Start Screen more tolerable and functional, as well as the OS, but that was also on a better computer.

I am still stick with Window 7 because using it from years and have not any issue but don't like Window 8 start menu and desktop.
