Thanks to those who have responded so far to our request for photos for our List Companions. We are using some of those sent to us for Swifter than Eagles : The Biblical Middle East at War :!:

We now are moving on to our Feudal Europe list book which covers European armies from about 1050 to 1300 and will be called Oath of Fealty.

For this companion we are fairly well served by our existing photo stock but need photos of the following, less "mainstream" armies.

Early Russian 1054 to 1264 - Cavalry (pre Mongol Lance/spear armed rather than bow armed) and Spearmen types

Feudal Polish 1058 to 1300 - Nobles/knights and spearmen types

Early Lithuanian 1100 to 1300 - Cavalry (light and heavy), spearmen and foot archers

Wendish/Prussian/Estonian c13th century - Foot warriors and mounted warriors

Medieval Irish 1167 to 1300 - Foot warriors (inc Galloglaich but early not later types), archers, javelinmen and cavalry

As usual the composition can be single figures or groups, or if you are feeling a bit more ambitious you might try a complete battle scene, but this would need a backdrop and very good terrain.

You will also have to be able to supply photography to print standard of at least 300DPI. Really all this means is that you need to set your camera to a fine or high setting, and the pictures should be taken in natural day light.

Contact jdm@slitherine.co.uk direct if you want to see your figures in this FoG list Companion and join a very exclusive club 8)

Hi Paul,

I'm currently painting a Polish knight BG using Polish heraldry page on Wikipedia.
Here is the first base.
Is it feudal enough ?
If positive, I will try to shot each bases with the whole lances, once I will have finished the 4 bases.

Awesome work, massively impressive! :)

But...does that guy really have a yellow duckie on his head?

I wondered that myself, but was afraid of the answer. :D

Yes your Polish knights are just right for the latter part of the Feudal Polish list (basically anyone with a barrel/great helm rather than a visored bascinet (the german hundskull) which is a bit too late) and no plate mail (well nothing to any great extent). And the pciture looks of a good standard.

I am always concious that with these "eastern" armies the heraldry doesn't follow the western European "rules" and so although you could use a Western knight of the same period armour wise the heraldry would't be right and someone will pick us up on it

Well, given the life preserver on the helm of the guy in the middle, maybe they are Knights of the Bath ;)

It's not the Vicious Chicken of Bristol, then?

I rather like the idea of a "Knight of the Rubber Ducky" though.

EDIT: Also, they look great.

Thanks,
In fact two bags of Essex knights have such crested helms.
I found them good to use so than my Polish BG don't look like western european knights.
And I also prefer feudal knights than the late medieval ones (even if I will play them in a Grand Duchy of Lithuania army).

According to their Heraldry crest
Herb Poraj : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Herb_Poraj.jpg
and
Herb Pobog : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:POL_COA_Pobog.svg
it was obvious to use such crested helms miniatures.

And in order that a yellow duck (too complex to paint another coloured one) fits a polish heraldry, I choose a yellow one

i figured it was a test of some kind. the third guys has a cat on his helmet, which is obviously the odd one out (they bathe themselves)

I've just finished a whole swap of knights for 12th-13th century which may be of assistance as well as feudal crossbow and meduim foot (ie ex-auxillia).

And could send the larger pics if useful
