Hi everyone

I have recently got into DBMM and have been keeping a keen eye on FOG.

Is there anyone in Leeds or the West Yorkshire area that would like to play FOG with me so that I can learn the game.

Thanks

Rob

There is a club in Halifax, but I have only been a couple of times, last year whilst displaced (well in Yorkshire). Keen gamers if they have a place to game. On my last night there they shut the pub down and were giving beer away 8)
They have an entry in the wargame club sticky thread

You should check out the Northern League. It is a wargames league that meets 5 times a year and currently plays FoG, DBM and DBMM. There is a round in Manchester this Sunday if you want to have a look. The round after that is actually in Leeds at the Royal armouries at the end of November.

The league details are on the MAWS website http://www.maws.org.uk

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies.

I have had a message from a guy from the Halifax club and will try and get over there in the next week.

I will also get along to the Royal Armouries in November as I am keen to get into the competition side.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction.

Just to complicate things it looks like the November round of the Northern league may not be in Leeds after all. At present this is under discussion so keep an eye out for info.

You may want to consider the FoG tournament at Game 08 in Manchester. It's the first weekend in November and is two one day tournaments each of 3 650 point games (2 1/2 hours 5' by 3' tables) you could enter just one day or both depending on how you felt and how many brownie points you have with your better half. More info on this is at http://www.gamecon.co.uk

Hi Hammy

Well I have visited the Halifax club 3 times now and the game is getting easier. I mentioned your 650AP 15mm tournament tonight and the general consensus was that I should enter.

I will think about it but I don't want to put out more experienced players by not knowing the rules sufficiently.

Don't worry about that, people are understanding. The last of Hammy's 650 bashes my first game was against somebdoy who hadn't actually played a FoG game (IIRC) - no problems.

At least two of the players in the FoG tournament at Britcon had never played a game of FoG prior to getting to Manchester....

I know because I saw them playing their first ever game on the Thursday night. They got another game in on the Friday and then dived in to 6 800 point games over the weekend.

The both finished just below half way and from what they told me enjoyed the games very much.

Go on, come to the one day comp in Manchester, you know you want to :D

Well I have my son staying a full weekend once a fortnight but I have just checked and the first weekend in November is free.

Now I have to decide whether I play for 2 days for maximum experience. I will get advice from the guys in Halifax.
