I never had this issue with any game before. I tried the tutorial 3 times and could not even finish my first turn before my PC turned off. Incredible, no freeze, no crash to desktop, or even to BIOS. My computer just turns off...

I tried a quick battle to see if it was related to the tutorial but it turned off the same after 3 turns.

I had noticed mouse problem so removed the shadows which fixed it

I use an old 2010 PC, Windows 7 at 64bits, with an ATI Radeon HD4600 graphic card, is it time to change my gear ? Where is the error log located ?

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

Could you please attach the file named "error.log" and a DxDiag report file as well thanks?

The "error.log" file can be found at your Windows document folder:
...\Documents\My Games\FieldOfGlory2

You need to post the dated error log that corresponds to the time of the crash, because the vanilla error.log file is rewritten every time the program is opened.

It's an old machine undoubtedly, and that won't help, but usually this kind of issues (turn off) are usually related with overheating.
This is a 3D game engine, so it makes your computer to work hard.
I suggest you to take a look at your computer fans and heatsinks and check if they are dust free.

Thanks for your help. There are lots of txt files with the name "error" in it, should I zip them all ?

it's a small zip file anyway, I put them all, with the Dxdiag file as well.

I will clean the inner parts of my computer, it's a while I did not do it, thanks a lot

no errors in system log, or none recorded or logged / shown anyway, my advice is, update the system drivers, this can be done from the makers site, look at motherboards etc and drivers, then use the ATI update tool to update your video card drivers, good luck

well, it seems that these old drivers are still the latest ones relative to my old equipment...

I thought that "**WARNING**:AddUIListboxItem Invalid string index: 149865208" in the error_trace.txt could be a clue, but I don't know anything more.

i've only looked at the dxr reports regarding your system spec, as the details in the logs are more for the developer regarding the error in question

My Windows 10 PC also rebooted (no error messages) when I was playing the first tutorial but hasn't done so since. I am using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 graphics card with the latest driver. I've also been playing Divinity Original Sin 2 for hours at a time without issue so I don't think it's an overheating problem.

Your issue is a different one, a reboot is not the same thing as a power off.

The only difference I had from the original poster was that my PC restarted after it turned off.

If the PC restarts automatically, than it's not a power off, it's a reset or a reboot.

If it doesn't restart automatically then it's a real power off. This usually is caused by a hardware failure or overheating CPU (CPU/Board thermal protection tells the board to shutdown in order to avoid future damage).

Well, I cleaned my computer heat sinks that were indeed clogged by dust.

This allowed me to reach turn 3 of the tutorial before I had the usual shutdown. So obviously, there is a link between the heat and the crashes, but now that my computer is clean, I don't know what to do.

Does it power off?
If it does then you have a hardware failure, maybe PSU...

Open USER.TXT in My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2 and add the line

FPSLIMIT 50

This will reduce the max framerate that the game tries to run at - which can be confused by some powersaving or other timer-altering system settings. Try raising and lowering the setting until you get a reasonable balance between stability and framerate.

I played the whole first tutorial, crushed the Roman legions, and I'm ready to start my second battle.

I also updated to version 1.01, I don't know if that also helped

seems it put a manual limit on the FPS second, which was causing the power issues, strange one tbh, as in my tests, without any limits, it never really goes above a safe limit, which tbh on my hardware is maybe 120 to 200 before temps rise etc, but not crashed it ever, so maybe a good clean also helped.

for me, a good house clean every now and then does help
something like above, anti static and compressed air duster, while the pc is off mind you, sprayed into the cpu and gpa fans, with the sides of the case off, and also blown into the PS (power supply) unit does wonders for lower overall temps, mind you some good case fans and removable dust filters on all vents helps.

once it's been cleaned, leave for 10 mins or so, or what ever time is says on the can, as some can be different, this way the item comes back to temp in it's own time, as air from the can is cold / frozen on release, so best to start off cleaning with a cold pc, and then once done leave the pc with case open side off etc for a few mins to warm up at room temp before putting sides on and turning back on...
