Battle of Illipa

Battle of Illipa was one of the famous battles fought by Publius Cornelius Scipio (future Africanus) against Carthagians in Spain.

How it happened?

Scipio practically tricked Hastrubal as he deployed his army with Legions in center and Iberians on flank for weeks, but never offered battle. Then, last day, he ordered Legions to be placed on flanks, Iberians on center and let his men to eat early so they will be ready early morning which didnt gave time to Hastrubal to adjust on different situation.. This switch Scipio made, caused Carthaginians to fell into very same trap, as Romans did at Cannae..

Yet, when you start this battle in Field of Glory 2, instead of this Roman deployment, you have Roman Legionaries in center and Iberians on the flank.. Which means, this is not HISTORICAL battle of Illipa, but a hypothetical:

Thanks. You have spotted a bug.

The Roman version of this scenario is supposed to start with a deployment phase so that the Roman player can redeploy his army. (The Carthaginian version doesn't).

Somehow, since the battle was tested, the Deployment phase has disappeared. I think I can guess how this happened. It will be corrected in a patch.

Dont get me wrong, i really like the game, im just trying to point out issues i found so far.

And regarding the Ilipa, i think this Roman deployment dont make sense even if you play as Carthaginians. Shouldnt you face Romans as they gave battle?

Yes.

In the Carthaginian version the Romans start in their historical deployment. In the Roman version, the Roman player is supposed to have the choice - as Scipio did - but currently it is bugged. It will get patched soon.

In the MP version the game also starts with the historical deployments.
