Vanishing...Please help

I have just finished painting my first unit of light horse for my Thracians.
Using acrylic paint...GW and Valejo
Using testers dullcote I have sprayed them however they have turned a dull white colour.
Wetting them restores the colour!

Do I respray with a different vanish or will this just destroy them even more?

Please advise if you have had this issue as well.

Thanks in advance

While I've had a couple of instances of this--out of more than fifty batches of figures--once with GW matte spray, another time with Krylon Satin. Since it looks ok wet, I suggest trying a satin or gloss coat on one figure to see if the problem is corrected.

I believe that the problem may have been either too heavy an application, or spraying in .moist, cold atmospheric conditions. I use Vallejo and GW and they work regularly.
BW 'Mithril Silver' seems more prone to being dulled than other colors.

Humidity is the usual problem with spray varnishes. I've read elsewhere that just applying a second coat often works - but I have no experience myself so try with caution IMO :o

It may be worth a web search as this is something I have heard of but not experienced.

A second spray of varnish I understand usually solved the problem but if you do a bit of googling you should get some good hits.

Thanks for the responses.
I went with the theory that I couldnt do any more damage by respraying.
This time I placed them by a heater as its been raining for 3 days so high humidity.
It worked!! :D

Humidity is the culprit. I had to abandon the Testor's Dullcote spray method at all times excepting winter (north Florida being a place where jungle-like humidity is the norm.) I reccomend getting Model master acrylic matte coat finish at your local hobby shop. It takes longer than just spraying, but you can apply it indoors where your home AC will insure that humidity is at normal levels.
