flanking/rear POA

I am a bit confused on the flank/rear fighting.
A BG charges into the flank/rear, does it get
1. the specified POA's for flank/rear charge minimum+any other applicable POA
2. only the specified POA's for flank/rear charge and no modifiers
Thanks from a beginner in advance for clearing it up.

#2. The maximum POA in any combat is ++, and a flanking attack defaults to that, not other figuring needed.
Don't forget the BG which is flanked also loses a cohesion level.

Indeed a very important safe tip--don't get flanked
And if you do charge an enemy BG in the flank or rear, remember the drop in cohesion level. It could make all the diference

In a flank or rear charge only one set of POA's apply, those charging ++, those hit in flank or rear --, all others are disregarded even uphill etc. Also the BG hit drops a cohesion level unless it was non-skirmishers hit by skirmishers.

Clarification: no cohesion loss if the chargers are skirmishers and the BG receiving the flank/rear charge are not skirmishers.
