This game is a hardback book which is a lot heavier and more expensive to ship unfortunately.

I think that will be because the boxed version includes the 150 page hardback colour manual.....

How big is the manual by dimension? 8.5x11 inches or whatever that is in metric?

In the U.S., I don't see an option to buy the upgrade for FoG2 on the page linked. Also, the Steam version of the manual has no working pdf link. I need the manual. I want to read it before I play. Can you fix this?

Look well, it's in the middle of the list.
You can also buy from the Matrix Games store:

Open the game installation folder, find a folder named "Manuals" and open it. Inside you'll find the pdf manual.

That book must be an Osprey Publishing book like the manual. They make the best history books with many pictures and drawings.
I wish I had bought the box version instead but I guess I can always re-buy it later.

You can upgrade to a box, you don't have to buy the game again. Just check the links I've provided in the previous posts.
