Quick Weapon Modding Question

If I were to change the ranges of weapons, where would I look, and would it break the tactical AI?
Intention - Increase non-fighter missile and torpedo ranges 5x, increase fighter torpedo ranges 2x, increase the distance clusters can travel by 5x.
Reasoning - Right now, there are beam weapons with longer ranges, this is annoying to me, as the whole point of guided missiles is that you can hit a target farther than your guns can reach.
