Does a coastline count for threatened flank?

Interesting question cropped up the other day: Does a non skirmisher 6" from the table edge count as having a threatened flank if that flank is anchored on a coastline?

I believe so as there is no exception in the rules that I can recall.

I see no exceptions either although it does say a coastline is impassable to troops, that would not stop theoretical navies bombarding or firing at you I guess so I think the rule is nice and simple.

My tuppence FWIW.

So is the 6" measured from the actual table edge, or from the waterline?

The 6MU is from the table edge. So A coastline could in effect protect you if it was wide enough.

Labor Day holiday in the USA. The end of summer. Kids go back to school tomorrow.

And teachers. :?

Most schools started last week in my area. :D

Suddenly, using a coastline section sounds like something to try. With my luck it will be a 5 or 3 on my die roll for placement. I just don't get the rolls I "want" on terrain placement. Usually, my opponent(s) has/have two pieces of my terrain on his side of the table.

Roads, Rivers and coastlines do not dice for initial placement.
