While making a scenario I worked on

ww2.map
ww2_city_eng.txt

XXXXX.scn (my scenario)

Well I went F(#*ing insane for 3 days trying to figure out why when I popped in my map it worked and then next time it crashed the software. So then I would reload the original map and txt file AND IT STILL CRASHED!!!!! I uninstall/reinstall the program, it doesnt work.. WTF!?!?! Reboot doesnt work WTF again!!! Wipe the whole directory, reinstall... it works. Place my map in, it works WTF it didnt work 30 mins ago. Ok now the map is working place my scenario in, doesnt work. Sigh, ok restart place back the original map and txt.... IT DOESNT F*#*ING WORK. So I prompty threw both my Dell LCD screens and PC out the window... ok I fantasied about it.

Well I finally figured it out. It was the scenario all a long. If the scenario is simply in the scenario directory and CEAW doesnt like it... POOF crash.

So if you had the same issues I did, its your scenario. Logically you would assume the program only loads the map now and the scenario when you pick it. Nope it checks all as loading so if the scenario is FUed it will crash the program.

You can stop pulling your hair out now.

Oh, yeah.

That's how it works alright.

That's because when you start the the game, it compiles your .SCN scenario file into the .DATA file that it actually loads. So if there's something squirrelly in the .SCN file, it chokes and bombs out to desktop.

The joys of Java, I guess.
