Do the losses the Cylons take in a battle affect the overall campaign in any way? For example, if you lose a fleet due to retreat not being implemented but destroy a big Cylon ship in the process, will that Cylon fleet still be around but without the ship that was destroyed?

I can't imagine that battle results won't be cumulative throughout the campaign.
It would be pretty pointless otherwise.
