i'm trying to source decent figures to resemble selecuid cataphracts.

i'm figuring i could use any parthian-like range as well.

thus far the only genuinely interesting figures i've seen are khurasan http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/ranges.html#C1 but they're obviously a few hundred years too late.

but then i think... meh.

In 15mm have a look at Irregular and/or Donnington. One of them does a specific Seleukid chap which is rather nice IMO (have some).

Khurasan chaps are over 1000 years late

I am using Old Glory Seleucid figures. The riders are very good and look like the riders in Sekunda's book the Seleucid Army. The cataphract horses tha t came with those riders did not look good.

Warweb/Grandiosity arranged for me to get some other catphract horses from the Old Glory line. I got 36 horse figures mixed from later period Byszantine list and Ottoman Turk list. These horse figures looked like the cataphract horses in the same book named previously.

Museum do some interesting ones.

Check their Khwarismian range, or their Mongol heavy cavalry. There's also some heavy cavalry in the Seleucid range.

Essex Parthians are good (even do camel cataphracts!) http://www.essexminiatures.co.uk/frames15anc.html

I think the best looking cataphract bases use a mix of poses so dont recommend any one brand. They were nobility providing their own armour and equipment so shoudl vary in pose and eqiuipment.

I have applied this principle over having exactly correct armour types for my cataphracts.

I get even numbers of roman, parthian, seleucid and armenian cats from the exxez range. AB sassanids and Outpost Parthian Cat mix in well. Particularly if you mix up the horses and riders as horse size is the main source af variablility between ranges.
