1. Fog of war. This should be included as an option. Also if playing hot seat, the map would have to be blocked in between plays. This would give Federal cavalry a greater purpose after the initial approach and create tension. Longstreet's marching was done to avoid the Feds from seeing his troops.
2. Artillery. If alone and undefended, it should be easier to destroy. Infantry ought to wipe it out.
3. Night movement. In between days, each side should have the option to redeploy their troops. For example after Day 1, perhaps the Rebs want to swing Early around to support Longstreet and Round Top. Again, this with Fog of War would create some great tension.
4. Eliminate or add additional Confederate Victory Points. I would like to see an option of no victory points, so the whole goal is the destruction of the opposing army. If too complicated, perhaps that could be a multiplayer option only. Alternatively, the AI (and some humans
) tends to pool all of the rebel troops around the town and Cemetery Hill, and doesn't pursue Round Top or spread the Federal army out. I don't know the coding, but if additional victory points were placed closed to Round Top, perhaps Weikert's Hill and/or Little Round Top, that would cause the AI to pursue other options?
5. To replicate Pickett's charge, the approaching rebs should be under constant fire. As it is now, they can approach the feds too quickly, and without sufficient penalty to discourage that kind of long march towards an entrenched position. This may be too complicated a fix, but if nothing else, perhaps increase the range of artillery, if it has not moved.
Thanks for the game. I think the framework is there for something great.
