Capturing Enemy Artillery

Gustavus Adolphus captured the Imperial artillery in the battle of 1st Breitenfeld 1631, but there is no way to accomplish this in P&S. I know that gunners could spike the artillery to deny their use by the enemy, but they did apparently were not always able to do so. Why is this not potentially available in P&S?

This was allowed in tabletop FOGR and caused all sorts of problems, so that most tournament organisers have added a house rule so that artillery is removed rather than captured.

Thanks for the answer. Was the tournament problem from a scoring or game play perspective? I can see how it might be challenging to program in the computer version, and it is not significant enough to bother.
I fine with the way artillery works in close combat now, and hated the way it could hold off enemy troops in close combat for several rounds in the first version of P&S.

It was partly an issue with artillery changing hands multiple times, and partly captured artillery forming an obstruction to movement by the capturers.
