Bob Medcraft has managed to arrange another SL round (Bob - I am happy to check the army lists again, if required).

“The Battle Of Vienna 1683 AD”
Date: - Sunday 10th December 2017
Venue: - Trinity Church Hall, Conduit Road, Abingdon OX14 1DB
Theme: - All armies and any allies must be valid for the year 1683
Permitted armies: 800 points maximum
- Later Polish & Lithuanian (D&G),
- Later Ottoman Turkish (CoE),
- Hungarian Kuruc Rebellion (D&G),
- Habsburg Austrian Imperial (Eastern) (D&G),
- Later German States (only Bavaria, Saxony, Swabia, Franconia) (D&G),
- Tatar (CoE)

Format: - Three x 2 hour 30 minute games on pre-set terrain.

Set-up Rules: - There will be the following modifications to the normal set-up rules –
• light troops will deploy up to 21" and battle troops 16" in from the owning players the base line.
• light and medium artillery can deploy up to 18" in from the base line as will limbered heavy artillery.
• Unlimbered heavy artillery would still only be able to deploy at 15".
• Any heavy or medium artillery must be in the first BG's to be deployed.
• Any artillery captured will be removed from the table during the JAP phase, after all auto routing troops have been removed.

Each player can elect to move one item of the pre-set terrain (both players cannot choose the same piece, initiative winner chooses first). After selecting which item of terrain they want to move the player rolls a D6 and can move the terrain as follows: -
1 = up to 3”
2 and 3 = up to 6”
4 = up to 9”
5 = up to 12” or pivot
6 = remove the terrain (any removed items must be replaced in their original position at the end of each game)

Special Rules: -
Foot
1) The army cannot include more than 5 units with any pikemen capability.
2) No more than half of the foot battle troops in the army can be Superior or Elite.

Mounted Troops
3) The army must include at least 20 bases of mounted battle troops.
4) No more than half of the mounted battle troops in the army can be Superior or Elite.
5) Armies with insufficient Superior mounted battle troops in their army list to achieve this limit can upgrade whichever type of Average mounted troops in their list is most expensive in points to Superior up to the above limit.

Artillery
6) For each Battle Group of Medium or Heavy Artillery, an army must contain:
- 12 stands of Foot Battle Troops (other than artillery), if the artillery BG is 2-3 stands
- 18 stands of Foot Battle Troops (other than artillery), if the artillery BG is 4 stands

We will be playing the latest version of the proposed changes to the FOG R rules and lists.

Registration is from 8.30am onwards. The games will be played using the following starting times: -
1st Round 9.00am to 11.30am
15 minute break
2nd Round 11.45am to 2.15pm
15 minute break
3rd Round 2.30pm to 5.00pm
Prize giving

Car parking is tight as it is on public roads but it will be possible to car park behind the Conservative Club entrance in Conduit Road.

Because of the limited break time and the distance to walk to the local shops/pubs, players should bring a packed lunch.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for £1 for the whole day

Cost: £15.00 per player, payable on the day.

Spaces: - Maximum number of players is 20.

It is only just over 3 weeks to the competition. There are still places available and spare armies if players need them.
It would be great if players could let me have their lists by Sunday 26th November as it will give me a chance to check them and send out the runners and riders. I have had one list already.

So make your mind up and come along to a great one day competition.

This is the chance to get your Polish army out and play a game which they can win.

I'm in. I'm seeing Patrick this weekend, and will confirm him (or not) on Saturday evening - he'll need to borrow an army. I will have Mad Max and the boys in blue.

At the moment, I think he and I are both coming (he will need an army though). However, my wife is going to have to go into hospital for a fairly serious operation at some point before Xmas, and if it is before the Abingdon date, both he and I will be out, as she will need constant TLC+++ afterwards. I shall try to give you as much notice as possible, but that is why I have been a bit reticent about committing fully on here.

Where can I find the points values for troops we are using for this, and is there an army generator that will work?

Versions used at Warfare can be found in that topic - http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 09&t=78834

The list spreadsheet there has a small error - charges 2 points not 1 for Determined Foot, but I don't think that affects this comp - but is other wise OK to use.

Thanks Nik

I was also after the official Errata (that is the original 1.0 errata you could download from the BHGS site, all links to it seem to go to a 404 page) so I can see the full wording for the Vienna 1683 option for the Austrian HAsburg List, I may be just mad enough to try and use it.

A number of the update proposals work in its favour - not a mad choice IMO.
