Any idea when the list will be out ?

Is there any plan to release a list book that will include the various early Italian armies --Camillian Roman, Samnite, Etruscan, Volscan etc. Is there enough to fill an entire army list book? I'd love to see those lists--I'm just wondering what all would go in such a book.

There is talk of armies that aren't published in a book being released as online "lost scrolls".

But to be honest, I'd rather have a proper published book - I'm interested in the early
Italian armies too, like Etruscan*, Ligurian and Villanovan. If it was made an early Mediterranean
theme as well, so including armies like Phoenician, Dark Age Greek, Trojan,
Minoan, etc etc, I'm sure there's a viable army book in there.

We have to keep shouting so they notice After all, what more does one need. Easy
title (Heroic Age) and a wooden horse on the cover**!

* I did try writing an Etruscan list if you look in the archives. Not that the powers that
be took the slightest notice. Grumble grumble
** I'd prefer King Porsenna running a few Romans down in his chariot, but...

Latin league always appealed to me under the previous rules, but the idea of all those ally generals put me off. Sounds like under FoG I could give them a try.

"Heroic Age" is a great title and encapsulates the them neatly as well
I did check out your Etruscan list -- interesting list! Thanks.

I'd like to see a Samnite army, too.

Heroic Age or "Struggle for Italy " " Struggle for the Hills ( 7 ) "sounds good titles for a book on this period

I would like to book one in advance if there will be one , I really like the area and the Period

What about "Age of Heroes"?

Great ideas, very exciting stuff. But is there really enough historical information to do a Minoan army? And for that matter, did the Minoans really have an army? I know they were reputed to have uber-badass marines, but that makes sense for a primarily-naval power.

And isn't this all sort of pre-history, in terms of documentation? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea anyhow. My personal standards are fairly loose and easy when it comes to historical documentation for something I want to do in a game. I'd love to see Achilles and his Myrmidons go up against the Trojans

I was just under the definite impression that the world of miniatures was considerably more, uhhh, conscientious and meticulous about such things than I am.

In fact, I'll tell you how loose and easy my standards are. If you wanted to do a fun little campaign for a buddy in FOG, you could setup an "Odyssey" campaign, where he represents Odysseus and his men, and gets a small mixed force of troops with one IC. Then you could run him through a series of encounters representing the various adventures of Odysseus on his journey home, a series of small skirmishes. If you were feeling really crazy, you could even throw in a little Jason and the Argonauts action with a giant bird or something like that, say using the elephant stats. Obviously, this is taking the FOG rules and setting them in a more RPG-like campaign structure, but it might be good fun for those who are not above such things

I'd favour the title "The Italian Job".

The cover could be three mini chariots in red, white & blue with Caineus maximus prclaiming "soltanto presunto saltare i portelli sanguinanti fuori" (you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off).

I can see a post now in the Modeling forum, "Modeling the Red Sea, both Parted and Unparted". I wonder what materials one would use? Styrofoam? Really, in all seriousness, only the Parted version would be worth doing...

I must confess, that early part of the Ancient World absolutely fascinates me. I can't wait to see Swifter Than Eagles, and really, it's only about 7 months away. The Holidays will be upon us soon, and you know how that goes by in a whirl. It'll be April 2009 before you know it
