Playing the Russians in a MP game. The Allies are advancing up the hills and are on level 100, I have units behind a level 200 hill stationed on level 150. The Allies are firing at the Russians and the Russian can fire back. How is this possible?
How do you keep a reserve behind the crest if it can be shot at and still have the movement to counter attack from the top of the hill ?
For an exchange of fire I would expect the Russians would have to be on top of the 200 level hill.
I have found the Russian artillery fire to be totally useless as is the Russian infantry. I fire several batteries and Regiments at single Allied units with little result and no Disruption. Is the game fixed to make the Russian fire ineffective as I believe it was historically ?
The Allies just walk up the hills routing Russians with impunity.

Sadly the LOS algorithms are less that perfect when it comes to hills, and such anomalies do arise.

My last turn, 9 Russian batteries fired with a possible maximum of 275 hits, they managed a meagre 34. Say no more.
Of the 9 batteries 4 scored 0 hits.
Also the shooting is strange as I had a possible 0-48 ( no hits ) & 0-51 (6 hits) I would have thought that there would be a minimum with that many shots such as 12-48 or 15- 51 ?
All the artillery are marked Light Guns + Heavy or Medium Guns, is this to allow movement ?

The RNG for artillery is intentionally skewed towards the lower end of the possible casualty range, so that the average hit rate is far less than half the maximum casualties quoted and there will be many shots that score 0 hits. This is intended to represent 16th/17th century artillery, rather than 19th century artillery, which are outside the scope of the original game. It would need to be modded to get a more even spread for 19th century artillery.

Playing this for the second time and the Russian artillery is total rubbish causing very few casualties and hardly any disruption.
This needs to be fixed to make the game playable as a MP game imo.
Can the fortifications be made more resistant as well ?
Not worth playing as the Russians imo.
Interested to know if there have been any Russian victories.

Just finished my second MP game as the Russians, managed to get 49% damage on the Allies before being over whelmed.
My suggestion to make the game playable as the Russian is to increase the effectiveness of the Fortifications and Russian Artillery, if this is possible, and have fewer game moves thus putting some pressure on the Allies. An after though re the Light Foot Regiments, should they be able to evade when charged at this time?
Well done constructing the scenario Odenathus.
