Pursuers catching pursuers...

In an incident in a club game this week, a BG which had flanked the main enemy line broke its opponents. Its pursuit carried it into another enemy BG, which had also broken its opponents. But if allowed to make its pursuit this BG would move out of the path of the flankers.

Are pursuits simultaneous or does it depend on whose move it is?

Top of page 178 Chris: "the active player chooses which side goes first within a step if it matters but is not specified otherwise in the rules". So whoever's move it is gets to chose which pursues first.
