Basing Battle Groups

Hello all, I just picked up FoG and had a question before I bought my 1395 Germans!

My friend mentioned that each battle group needed a 'leader' base and that it should be readily identifiable. Is this the case?

If so, should I use a dismounted Knight or similar for these BG leader bases?

I was under the assumption that the only leader bases were the ones you made for your commanders.

Thanks for any help!

Your assumption is correct. Battle groups need not have a different base as a "leader base".
The only "leader bases" are the Commanders.

It does adds a bit of colour though, if you want to go to the trouble.

I usually do it -- even though it is not required.

I bought a pack of generals, standard bearers, and bagpipers -- adds some color

The inclusion of officer, standard bearer and/or musician figures can definitely add a great deal of color to a unit. On the other hand, such figures have no effect on game play in FoG.

Cheers,
Scott

Thanks for all the replies! I was thinking for my late medieval germans, an extra dismounted knight and bearer would look nice in some of my larger BG's, or maybe just one base per troop type.
