Hi all,

Got my rule book through yesterday, but my Legions Triumphant has been posted to my parents' address by mistake (ebay default address) and I want to get basing and painting! Could someone please tell me the how many legionary battle groups I can have and their size for an Early Imp. Roman army please? Many thanks!

Best regards, John

FWIW, Principate Romans (aka 'Early Imperial Romans') can have 8 to 32 bases of legionaries, 4-8 bases per BG. (Bases per BG normally being even in number) They are of course HF.

Cheers,

Dale

What on earth are you doing buying them on eBay, rather than from the Slitherine store?!?!?!?

And how can you be sure they are genuine, and not counterfeits, when you buy on eBay?

What on earth are talking about man? By your logic, everyone should just buy books from straight from the publisher, and never visit a bookshop, or use Amazon, or any other internet retailer?

Do you really think someone is spending his every waking hour printing and binding perfect hardback copies of wargaming rules in his garage and then passing them off as fakes? What about the thousands of other books he is selling? They are all fakes too huh? Impressive output!

And besides, it was a present bought for me...believe it or not, my parents do not have in-depth knowledge of the ancients miniature wargaming community, or how to source one particular set of rules directly from one particular publisher. Figure that, huh?

Seriously, what planet are you on fella?

I best not pour more ridicule upon you in case I upset your delicate sensibilities...

I don't mean to be harsh...really I don't...but clearly you are as mad as a tree, old chap :)

And off I go to cancel my membership...unless a kindly mod gets there first...

Planet is earth, sensibilities are not that delicate, and my sanity has been questioned before.

All that aside, perhaps you are not aware that when name-brand products are sold on eBay for prices below retail, they are often counterfeits.

As for why you should buy from the Slitherine store, well they did develop the game. They deserve some return on that investment, if only to avoid actually losing money. And it is the first venture into tabletop gaming for what has up to now been a computer games company. If you like FoG and would like to see more army lists and such, you might buy from Slitherine to encourage that.

And it's not at all accurate to compare FoG rule books to other books. Mass market books are published by huge faceless corporations, the market is vastly larger, and the whole economic situation is different.

At any rate, since I have clearly offended you, my apologies. I'm not sure what membership it is you're off to cancel, or what a mod would do, but I hope you're not talking about your forum account here. I'd hate to think I'd chased someone off.
