I have a pretty good rig . GTX 580, i7 950 processor, 12 GB memory But my seagate 1 TB hard drive lets me down.
Can I get some feedback on what Hard Drives are good for loading times, Bootup. But also just practically good for gaming . Price range not a problem but Not over say $600 thank you

and good make of SDD will be fine, or if you need more space, go with a SSHD, a pure SDD is quicker, but a Hybrid drive has both the speed of a SDD and a size of the HDD is one package, so cost per GB is lower than a pure SDD

The Samsung EVO 850 or 750 have the best ratings. However, you might look today for sales being it's Presidents day.

I had a 10,000 rpm, 300gb as my main C: drive. I replaced with a Samsung EVO 750 while using there migration software and it worked flawlessly. My computer starts up in ten seconds. Unbelievable.

here is a review from Tom's Hardware

I bought a Toshiba 1gb external for my games for around 50.00 and I have had No problems with it for about a year now . I switch it out between my Desktop and Laptop when i travel that has a smaller drive . .I keep the main games that Playing on the main drive , But still play off the external and have no lag time.

As said, an SSD will change your life :) I use the Samsungs a lot and have had no issues with them, but nor with any other SSDs.

Hybrids are much better at some things (e.g. anything where you have something <coughDropboxcough> hammering your file lists) but their straightline speed is limited by the size of their solid state cache, which can be as little as 8Gb, which can be a lot less than the install size of a single game. I always go with SSD and a seperate drive (which can be a hybrid) for mass storage.

Cheers

Pip

Hi Guys:
I just bought a new HD a few months back> it is a:
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
This HD is just unbelievable. As stated above it is incredibly FAST. 10 seconds and you are going. Very quick in all aspects. The best thing I have bought in a long time. You would have to see it to believe it/ it is that fast.
