Light thread units are good at routing enemies?

the tutorial says light thread would induce more damage to enemy when enemy is beat to retreat, is anybody know how that is? get some test but still feel vague

Units with "light tread" have reduced efficiency penalty when crossing difficult terrain. Units with "guerrilla" trait have the efficiency penalty completely removed. That is why these units are good for pursuing retreating enemies because, when they catch them, they are at full or nearly full efficiency to do damage.

Also, specifically, when a unit retreats following combat more damage is done to that unit.

dose it mean light thread unit give more damage (compared to "non-light thread unit" with same attacking ability value )just if this hit make enemy retreat ? or following hit after enemy retreat? sounds you hold the second opinion
