Worlds 2017

I have been talking to Julian Lopez who is organizing the Worlds this year. It will be in Salamanca, Spain. He is happy to have a FOGR competition if he has

1) An umpire (if I go I would be willing to umpire, but if anyone else really wants the job go for it)
2) Enough Players (so I am going to ask for a show of hands for those that would be interested, or in this case a show of posts)

The basic information is below from the ADLG info, some other items
1) The venue is available Fri-Sun all day, so to get the six games in it can be 2-2-2, 1-3-2, 2-3-1 etc, will be the umpires choice in effect as Julian is happy to go with what they want ADLG is going 1-3-2.
2) Salamanca does have an airport but flying into it seems to be quite rare and expensive, (£300 on a Monday from what I could see).
3) The best way to get there seems to be fly to Madrid and take the bus/train to Salamanca. Iberian airways do a joint ticket from LHR/LGW, using the bus, which varies from 130-190 return depending on exactly when you fly, includes one piece of luggage in the hold.
4) The bus leaves from the airport and takes 2.5 hours, the train is from down town and is 1.75 hours but you have to get downtown by taxi or metro so may not save much time.
5) Personally if I go I will stay a while (2 weeks??) so I can look at the Napoleonic battle sites around, so may hire a car in Madrid anyway. Or in Salamanca after the comp.

I will be bringing the family for a long weekend but only I will play. Have already booked a hotel!
I will be happy to back Ben up as reserve umpire should it be needed.

Probably worth checking with the French and German players, and more specifically those who came to Belgium last year directly as I'm not sure they read this bit of the forum?

FWIW looking at the foreign language AM forum the French FoGAM players seem to have decided that Salamnaca is too far to get to, but I'm not sure if the FoGR chaps are a different group.

I'm also not entirely sure where the German community go online to discuss stuff, as the Slitherine German Language forum hasn't really had any posts from any actual Germans for several years now, and the other German-language forums I know of (Tiny Soldiers and Sweetwater) don't seem to have particularly active FoG AM or R sections either.

I won't be playing FoGR at the Worlds this year. I'll be playing ADLG.

Chaps

I think its safe to assume that the FoGR element of this event will not proceed, as I do not believe that Julian has not received any firm entries. FoGAM has also been dropped from the roster, as there were only 6 (all-UK) players indicating interest in playing FoGAM.

Saga and ADLG, as well as the events at the ETC (FOW, X-Wing, Warmachine, Wargammer and others) are all going ahead.

If you look at the Samur thread in the French language FoGAM forum it looks like AM is now pretty much as good as gone in France...
