Editor: how to switch the side you create units for

Side 0 is selected in the Editor.
Unfortunately, my FOF and FHF skills (find obvious feature and find hidden feature) failed to successfully locate how to switch to side 1.
That would help me see if nations and units I add in files are correctly set.
Pressing F1 did not show this command.
Surely the answer will make me look stupid
Can you tell me how to do that?

with no editor manual written, i'm sorry i have no idea, maybe admin or a developer may reply

In the last row of icons in the upper-left of the editor window, the last row of icons has Space wolves and Ork Banners with numbers. You can click & toggle those numbers (LM/RM +/-). Placing Orks will default to 1 unless you start toggling those banner icons. 0 appears to be player and 1,2,3, etc are AI teams. I think you can setup different AI behaviors and spawns or whatnot by assigning different AI aggression to different # ork armies. Changing the banner icon form the default number, you might get "empty" bugged-looking banners on your players - the new armies need icons assigned unless that was changed or I did something else incorrect playing around with the banner icon numbers. Not sure about that. It was banner over units in-play.
Should be a text file with all the tooltips, compiling that would be a good starter guide or material for custom campaign primer or reference pdf that doesn't get into scripting.

Thanks Mophead! but actually the problem I have is this:
In this last row of icons there are:
- the deployment icon
- the side id 0 icon
- the side id 1 icon
... and under this, a text: "Using side 0"
I can change side ids for 0 and 1.
But I can't change the "Using side 0" to "Using side 1" for instance.
If I could do this, I could place Orks etc or any faction I create.
Whereas with "Using side 0" I can only place our fellow Space Wolves.
I have been looking for where to click or what key to press to switch "Using side 0" to "Using side 1".

If you click place unit you get Space wolves, clicking Place Unit editor icon again toggles to Ork armies. Once on Ork Armies, the Ork logo should toggle army #. New icons or copies might need to be assigned if there is more than one army. edit: to get army flag not "empty" in match - only saw that once.

Pressing the Units icon in the editor cycles between the two sides - you will see the "Using Side" display change. The two side icons allow for different unit icon sets to be used.

Thx guys.
That works:
I clicked and it switched to "Using side 1".
It displayed the Orks.
And clicking on the Ork shield increased the side ID (passing from 1 to 2 etc) as expected.
What did *not* work:
Once we have switched to Using side 1, Orks list is displayed even if we pick other side IDs.
Meaning I can't pick units form new army lists.
Is that a bug?
Or should I expect that to rather be a bad side declaration?
I have SIDES.txt with a new nation.
It's icon is displayed.
ArmyList with an Army List for that nation (say welcome to the Warhost of Lucius!).
squads.csv with a unit for that nation.
Would like to know if I should inquire more on my part :p
If other players succeeded at using units for side ids 2+ (other than orks), then it's on me!

I am unsure what you are trying to do really. The sides file can only have 2 sides in it, and is really just a proxy for the tags for each side in the squads file.
If you let me know what you are trying to do then I can better help.

I am trying to add new factions: Chaos factions, all Space Marine Chapters...
I actually started with the Emperors Children, with only one unit so far: the Noise Marines.
I am also currently meddling with the Skirmish Generator script to have them on random maps.
But to stay on topic with current post, here I was trying to see if the new unit and new faction just works in the Editor.
I added that to SIDES.txt: (local campaign file)
[SpaceWolves]
UICOLOUR 5d7084
NATION 0
[Goffs]
UICOLOUR c20000
NATION 1
[EmperorsChildren]
UICOLOUR 502da7
NATION 2
.. and a unit to squads.csv (local campaign file)
.. and a new army to ArmyList.txt ( named WARHOSTLUCIUS ), which uses the unit.
.. and also deployed the side icon and the unit textures.
From the Editor, I can set the Side ID to 2 for side 1.
This shows the new side icon.
I can also switch the side I use ("Using side 0" becomes "Using side 1").
But whatever the Side ID for side 1, it looks as if only orks were proposed ; as if on the Editor the side 1 was forced with the default GRUKKSRIPPINCREW army.

You can't really have multiple sides in the same campaign, a lot of the code only allows for 2 sides to exist.
So you can either just replace the SM side with your new units in the squads file and use their side entry, or (and I think this would work) you can add SINGLEUNITLIST 1 to your user.txt file, after which SHIFT+the unit icon will allow you to place ANY unit for a given side, which should list them all.
The two side ID buttons only change an internal value which is used to determine the icon texture to use, and which can be retrieved by scripts.

Hi. In Pike and Shot and Sengoku Jidai, tough we only have two sides, we can assign several factions under a side. We are also able to make the faction appear on both sides.
The units in editor is based on the side assigned to the unit in squads file. To make them available, you can clone the units, give a different name and switch side. There is also a key in the editor to show you all units no matter what side. Is this the same case in Warhammer?

Yes = SHIFT+the unit button shows all units for deployment, no matter the side.
