Hi all,

I'm trying to install SR on the company laptop so I can do some mobile gaming. The installer fails with an error "Setup can not create the following folder". Initially it's one of the objects folders or the sounds folder. Retrying the installation it's always the Core/Anim folder.

I redownloaded the installer (MD5 Checksum would be nice)

I have full admin rights on the box and run the installer elevated (as admin). It's a Windows 8 OS, English Language.

Looking around a bit I found a similar problem which seems to use the same installer... which points towards Unicode settings?

normally if it's a permissions error, on a company laptop, then double check firewall and Antivirus settings to see if either has stopped the file permission.

running the game exe install from a admin only account with full admin permissions should be enough.

Unicode settings, would only apply if your using a different Language?

you can always try a none default custom install to somewhere else, it will or should still work fine, even the updates, worth a try.

Basically the fix was that the user sets the system locale BEFORE he downloads the installer.

Are you customizing the installer for the user's serial key at the time of download? It's possible our "English (Ireland)" default locale would break that?

i'm not sure, only the development team would know that, or full staff support i'm sorry to say.

but again it wouldn't hurt to try it, just remember to change it back once it's installed, so you don't get into trouble on the KB at work

Okay, I tried setting to "English (United States" and that didn't work.

I also tried logging in as the elevated user (not just "run as admin" but actually to log the desktop as admin) and that didn't work either.

I tried with a different program and I can install it just fine, so creation of folders or files is not a permission issue.

Right now I'm downloading the ZIPed installer from the member section (possible truncation/problems when downloading the .exe?), but short of that working I'll create a support ticket.

Please try installing the game as administrator, by clicking with the right mouse button over the game file installer exe, and selecting "Run as Administrator" from the drop down menu.

Okay, I couldn't disable the AV on this machine, but got it to install fine on a similar machine without AV.

So it appears "System Center Security Essentials" doesn't like the installer. Sorry for the efforts caused, it's been a long while since I had to shut down an AV for a game install.

no need to shut it down, as long as you have access, add the installer or exe to the safe list, then it won't bother it once or when installing
