I've been playing BA2 for a while and I'm thinking of buying the original Battle Academy. But I'm not sure if there is a Skirmish option available in the original game. Could someone please clarify?

BA does not have an inbuilt Skirmish generator, no. That said, there are some mods which approximate it.
