Thanks for getting the results posted so quickly. I had a lot of fun at the FoG tournament which was a huge change from the one and only DBM tournament I played in years ago. I had gone with a friend to a DBM tournament and had no intention to play, I was just visiting some friends who were going to be at the tournament. They wound up being one person short of having the tourney classified as a big event so they begged me to play. I had never played DBM and didn't know much about the ancients period but they assured me they would take it easy on me and teach me all I needed to know. So I agree, someone loans me an army I know nothing about and in the first round get matched up with one of the few guys there that I did not know at all. He turned out to be at total #*$!#. He wouldn't explain anything to me and all questions were answered with "look it up" (I had no rule book and he wouldn't loan me his). The only time he would provide input was when out of ignorance I tried to make an illegal move in the rules. He wouldn't tell me what my valid options were he would only stop me if I tried to do something against the rules. Needless to say this leads to a very positive gaming experience for me (NOT) and captain personality got what he wanted which was an easy win. I dropped out after the first round and never played in another DBM tournament again.

Perhaps you should have offered him your 'Braille' copy of the rules.

After an experience like that I am impressed you risked another tournament. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you will get to repeat the fun.

I think if I had been playing this game I would gone off in search of a copy of the rules and spent the rest of the game looking things up, thus ensuring a draw, and denying the player what he wanted.

Hehe I didn't even know enough about what was going on to try that Ah well hindsight and all, it would have been funny to go to the other room and visit with my friends while "looking" for a rule and just stay there till he popped a blood vessel

I second that sentiment even though he did come in from out of state to steal our lunches and take a squat in our ice cream Steve is a lot of fun to play and you can't help learning something about the game playing him. I'm looking forward to trying my luck against his Persians again. Maybe I can score 4 points next time
