Ok, I may be overthinking this, but I have some questions on this troop type.
They seem to be a bit of an enigma as to how they were equipped and fought (other than the shield type from which they get their name.) In FoG, they are classed as offensive spear and I don't know enough to (nor do I wish to) dispute this.
However, the models I will be using have a couple of javelins in their shield hand and the other hand is to be drilled out for a spear or javelin to be inserted (yes, we are talking 25/28mm figs.) From the limited research I have done regarding these chaps and the look of the models, a light spear/swordmen classification seems more appropriate.
Possibly I should clip off the javelins in the shield hand and insert a longer spear in the other?
Or maybe the offensive spear classification was more of an abstract or has a rationale similar to those that sees many lance and bow types classified as bow with no lance.
What I'm essentialy looking for is an answer to the question:
Should I clip the javelins or leave it as is with a longer spear in the opposite hand? Or should I find a different model.
