This French lend-lease recon unit moved effortlessly through the minefield.

Maybe because the minefield is a British unit? Whenever I place them I leave them as the white-flag neutral country.

I used to place the mines as neutral, but for some reason they appeared with their own visible hex ownership on the map.
But that may be the reason. Maybe not too bad since the British in this case would have maps of the mine locations.

They are normally neutral when placed from the No Man's Land faction or in the game from engineers on land or strat-bombers and support ships on sea.
OOB is always good for a weird surprise sometimes.

What I've just noticed a second time recently: the AI tends to rush into (their) hidden minefields too. This gives me at least a smile that the AI not always cheats.

This is what I see when there are neutral mines placed on the map.
Not too hard to avoid...

Recover the hex with the British or whatever ownership after placing them. Works fine after that.

That is what I did in the screenshot in the original post.

Maybe try putting in a 'spawn unit' trigger set to turn 1, with neutral as the country. I'm running out of ideas now.

I think we've reach the end of the mines-discussion
It is no big deal, just a bit odd.
