bought this game yesterday from a swiss retailer for CHF 29 (mediamarkt). the original distributor for the german version is cdv (
http://www.cdv-shop.de/product_info.php ... t-War.html). installing procedure works fine. when trying to start the game the above mentioned error message appears. so then i downloaded the patch 1.06 from cdv. same error message. ???
I would like to mention that i also have games like company of heroes that work fine "install - play". this thingy here looks like some developement work is not yet finished?

Did you try to run as administrator?
Is the version including a german manual and german disc or is it digital download version?

Also, please try the java hotfix available from our site in the CEAW download section. Make sure you grab the CDV version of the patch.

the program came in a german box with a german manual and of course a german cd. the recommended hotfix did not work, the error message remains the same: "Die JVM konnte nicht gestartet werden". it is the similar problem that n3r or Elfe posted. but again the java hotfix (german version) does not help.
System: XP Service Pack 3, 1gig Ram, Intel Centrino duo 1.6Ghz

Did you try running as administrator as Johan suggested? Some recent windows updates have been playing hell with our java applications and we're still not sure exactly what the issues are.

Since you did not buy from CDV, we cannot know if this Swiss company made their own installer. If they did, they would have to support it. n3r used the Russian Akella version, Elfe did not say what version it was could very well be the Gamesload version so I cannot use it as reference for anyone having trouble with the real CDV retail version.

the swiss company is a pure retailer (coffee machines, hoovers, plasma-tvs, car audio, xbox, and pc games) they just buy in bulk. i sent an email to cdv as their logo is on the box, the manual and on the cd. it is definitively the german version.
how do i run my system as an administrator?
i forgot to mention, i have the latest kaspersky-suite and a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300

Your video card should not be an issue here. The virus checker might be but I use the same one and its not a problem. You could try turning it off but I doubt it will help. To run as administrator right click on the desktop icon and choose the option "Run as Administrator"

If you get a reply from CDV and it solved your problem pls post the results here, since it helps us direct similar support next time. I have not yet confirmed that any CDV boxed version customer had any unsolvable problems so curious to find out.

i have only two profiles set up - none of them is an administrator...
i can select mine and a guest profile - both result in the above error message.

Its nothing to do with your profile or login. On your desktop you will see the icon for CEAW. Right click on this and select "Run as Administrator" from the options.
