I was thinking of getting some Armenian allies for my Late Rep. Roman army and was wondering what figures are appropriate for Armenian cataphracts and horse archers. The only thing I've seen that I think is probably close would be the Sassanid Persian cataphracts and horse archers by Gripping Beast or Old Glory. If these are appropriate does anyone have a strong preference for one of these manufacturers? Gripping Beast has pictures of their figures but Old Glory does not so I have no idea what they look like.

Probably better looking for a Parthian range IMO.

Essex for the LH and some catafracts. It is a new range. Mix in Donnington catafracts and armoured horses for a really good-looking army. eplace all the cast kontos' with brass wire if you can.

For infantry use Magister Militum (ex-Chariot) mid-period Roams archers and auxilia. Trust me on this as I pointed out the multi-purpose nature of the figures to dear Jed ;-)

For Albanians try catafracts on unarmoured horses and paint the leg armour as trousers.

Good heavens I do apologise for the appalling spelling!

Should read "replace the kontos'" and "mid-period Romans".
Twenty times round the quad for me boys.
