I was wondering how I could create a random battle in BA

Is there a tutorial of sorts describing how I can do this?

Is it as easy as picking a map and then picking opposing units and creating a battle?

There isn't the same kind of random skirmish mode as exists in Battle Academy 2 - though there are some mods which build random maps in the editor and as battles.

Correct. In BA2, you can both play through the Skirmish UI, or you can use the Random Map plugin to create random maps in the editor to then add your own units to.

Is BA2 Germany vs Russia ONLY?

Are there mods that have additional units from the other Allied and Axis powers?

I believe there are. The model formats are compatible and people have used them.
