Odd typo/mistext in Legion Arena

I'm playing through the stock Roman Campaign again, for the umpteenth, and I caught something this time that I hadn't before.

At the battle of Avignon, (scenario #106), the second screen of text makes no sense in relation to the first.

Later, at the battle of Arausio (scenario #105, and no they are not in order, lol!), I saw the exact same screen of text, and this time it did make sense, it was in correct context.

First, I went to confirm that the localisation.txt and lang.str files were the originals, and not something I had edited. Both are the originals from 9/13/2005.

I went looking for it in the Localisation.txt file by searching on the name Mallius, and found it almost right away.

IDS_BRIEFING105_2 and IDS_BRIEFING106_1 both read exactly the same -
"You and your men arrive late but were just in time to see the last of Mallius troops slaughtered. Now you must stand against this horde alone. The first wave is about to hit. If you can inflict enough casualties you'll force them to regroup and might be able to escape. "
And in the 105 context it makes sense, following on naturally from the preceding section of text. In the 106 context, it's leaves you thinking, "Uhhh, say what? And who is this Mallius guy?"

All of which leaves me wondering, what's in the missing text that was supposed to be in IDS_BRIEFING106_1 ?

Anyhow, this is no longer a current game. But at least the issue is documented here, in case I or somebody else one day decide to do something about it :) :) :)

Hi Possum,

Here is the text for IDS_BRIEFING106_1 from GBOR:

In response, Cnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus led the Roman army into Gaul in the spring of 121 BC. The Allobroges and their Arverni allies have formed up near Avignon. They have with them a number of fanatics. You have been instructed to defeat the enemy quickly, but minimize your losses.

You're not using a modded file are you? Maybe there is a bug in LA which was later fixed!

Iain, not sure which of us you are asking that question of. My copy of the localisation.txt is definitely the original unmodded version, as noted above.

My guess is that there was just a typo in Legion Arena which got corrected in GBoR.

pgeerkens, thank you! That makes much better sense, and I have edited the file appropriately now.
