These special capturables "followed" my core for a few battles as promised then disappeared by Turn 1 'Anzio Breakout,' the battle for Rome.
Neither were lost in battle.
What gives?

These are a special type of unit described as unique units in the editor. They last either until destroyed or the campaign ends.

My point is these special units DID NOT continue to follow my core, and simply disappeared at the beginning of the 'Anzio Breakout' battle. Previously they reappeared on the map at/after core deployment.

To be exact, these two are indeed special units that are set in the editor to only appear for two battles. The way these 'unique' units behave is that they will first appear during 'Anzio Landing', and if they survive they will appear again at 'Anzio Defense'. After that they will no longer spawn. So they just boost your army for these two battles, after which they run out of spare parts or something. This is just the way the scenario designer created it.
In the earlier DLC there is a PzIII which behaves the same; it appears in El Guettar. There are other 'normal' capturable units which are added to your core, for example there is one in Anzio Breakout, a German recon car.
