There's not Louis XIV in the game which is funny since you have a whole expansion about him. When you play with France in that era you get Louis XIII which is just wrong and annoying. Also the Dutch have Maurice for all eras and other nations have such issues as well I imagine, I just haven't noticed it.
And there's another thing. Why is there no Holy Roman Empire in the game. Or Austrians or anything like that. The closest we get to that is Catholics or Pro-Imperials. Which is silly if I want to make a scenario between say French and HRE. Since France was also catholic it doesn't make sense to name the other faction Catholics but there's no HRE in the game.
And just as a side question why don't the French get veteran musketeer with bayonet skin. And why do most nations not get musketeers with bayonet and regimental guns?

Unfortunately the game's budget did not stretch to portraits of leaders for each nation for each era, especially as most of the eras cover several reigns.

The TYW "Catholic" faction is German Catholics and does represent the HRE (as well as the Catholic League). Its icon is the HRE flag. You will find Austrian army lists listed as Austrians in some eras, Imperials in some and German Catholic in others.

"Veteran" units in the game are used as a shorthand for very high quality units. Our research indicates that the French guard regiments retained the pike (and pikemen armour) up until the end of this period, so we did not give them "veteran" musketeer units.

And why do most nations not get musketeers with bayonet and regimental guns?

Because our research indicates that they should not have them. Different nations adopted the bayonet and abandoned the pike at different dates. Likewise not all nations used regimental guns.

It would be a shame if every army list had the same options.
