Updated version - fixed the Shoulder guards and made the plates more defined.

About the Lorica Hamata Legionaires - its doable, but I would need to change the model, something thats possible if the developers release a convertor for the model format.....i doubt they will do that tho :'(

I could always make a variation on the Auxilia tho, they have a Lorica Hamata, and with a bit owork i could pass them off as legionaries...I *think*

Principes also wear the Lorica Hamata and would be more accurate for the time period the majority of this game covers. The differences between the Republican legions and the Imperial legions was more in organization not equipment.

There's also been a good deal of debate about prevelent the Lorica Segmentata actually was and what units it was issued to.
Sculptures by artists tend to show a good deal of the Segmentata but the sculptures done by the troops show the Hamata. One theory is the Romans needed armor that could produced quickly to replace the equipment lost by Varus's 3 legions.

Whatever the truth by the time of the Notitia Dignitatum(420AD) the armor shown is Lorica Hamata and Lorica Squamata(lamellar/scale) so apparently the Segmenta didn't have enough advantages to stay in production.

Ave grimsta,

I stand in awe of your talent, "was that a bit over the top? I can never tell", they're excellent.

How good are you at shield designs/patterns?

I have had a desire to deploy ten legionary squads, ten cohorts = 1 legion. Guess what, there are only seven different legionary shield designs? Make a man happy, design at least three new ones, please?

Keep on skinning!!

PS. Just in case you don't recognise the quote it was Jim Carey playing the Riddler in Batman Forever.

Sure, ill see what i can do!

Ok, i made three new shields, but the game can only support a max of seven differant unit skins (red, green, blue, orange, white, black, purple and cyan) this means that the best i can do for you is to make each of those seven unique.....
Oh, and an example.

Ave grimsta,

First rate work, ten out of ten. Having absolutely no talent myself I can still recognise it when I see others demonstrating theirs.

The Roman legionaries were equipped with a pugio (dagger) worn on the left side of their baltus (belt). I believe it to be a utilitarian tool as well as a weapon, it also balanced the gladius (sword). Is it possible to show this?

I didn't know that Legion Arena could only support seven different skins per troop type, that is disappointing.

Keep well,

Vale

aye, it is rather annoying.

Ill release all these things soon btw. Im gonna start small, with just these units - gonna make em good though - and then ill just expand and eventually i may finish reskinning all the units i can, but that will take a while

So in the first version of my mod, of which it is un named there will be:
At least 7 Reskins of each of these
Roman General
Legionary Cohort
Praetorian Cohort
Auxilary Cavalry
Auxilary Archers
Archers

Music
I Hope to include some custom music, Holst's "Mars - The Bringer of War" is perfect for this games ingame battle music

Splash Screen
I Hope to change that to something that will help differentiate this mod from anything else, probably involving some stupid GrimSta slogan

And then after i release that, who knows??

Later peeps, i need sleep now

thanks very much mate, those kinda comments mean alot to me :)

Like i said, i intend to make this a large mod, but im gonna start out small and work my way there 8)

Also, if an Admin sees this could they change the name of the thread to "GrimSta's Skins" please. Oh! and can you also tell me what format the models are in and if there is a convertor for 3DS Max available.

EDIT: Also, could someone who has beaten the Roman campaign please PM so they can play test what i have done so far!! thanks!!

Grimsta, you can change it yourself.

Just edit the first post, the one you started the thread with, and change the Subject.

im not sure what format the models are off the bat, they might even be custom. Pips the man to ask about that. Also i have a feeling that you'll need to let the game re-cache (it does this on the first play) if your going to mess around with model data.

The model format for Legion Arena is horrible & something we are dumping for the future. It's really not possible to release the models as they are. You'll have to stick to texture modifications for now :)

Ack!! Ok, thanks guys, ill just spend the time improving my texturing skills, humble though they are
