How do I get a serial number? I bought the game as a download, and now I can find the serial number? What do I do, so I can update the game.

Where did you buy the game and where did you get the update? If you downloaded the wrong update it may be asking for a serial number to the other version of the game. E.g. Matrix vs Slitherine. Each publisher has it's own copy protection system and patches.
