Need "Help" to play, but now always faded out

Bought all the remaining army DLCs, and like playing, but need a refresher on the game rules, meaning of the code letters etc that should be accessed by "Help" button but it seems greyed at all times since I update my install with the new DLCs.
Also, is this game supported on Steam and I am not Steaming it, so that is the problem? (Don't like Steam, but . . . .)
Is there a pdf or text file somewhere so I can read it again?
Thanks

There is no pdf help file that I'm aware of. Go to your install folder, which in Windows is C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Field of Glory\help, and click on the index file. It will open up in your browser and then you can quickly Alt-Tab between the game and the help file as needed.

I apologize for the belated reply, but you should be able now to download the help files from your Slitherine/Matrix member's area.
Unzip them and click on the index file.

Thank you, but as I commented in another post, hardly what a customer expects when purchasing a game.
