I have just updated my website with a whole raft of lists that may be of interest, especially as some of them are Simon Hall's 8)

Go to http://www.endoftime.pwp.blueyonder.co. ... ection.htm to get to my FoG section which has links to the lists pages.

Really great, always useful to compare our army list with some others.
So I check the Classical Indians ones to compare with mine.
According to me on the list

the bowmen couldn't be drilled if CV, HCh and Javelinmen aren't (Mauryas rule p.33)

There is no guarantee that any of the lists are legal and in the case of Simon's especially many were written before the lists were finalised as mentioned on that apge :D

For the reason stated on the site.

Perhaps I should add another caveat that if you are incapable of independant thought you shouldn't read them
